Covid – Light at the end of the Tunnel

Well, what a year it has been.

I doubt anyone out there could have imagined the way the last fourteen months have transgressed. What started as a localised newspaper story about a market then developed into a virus that spanned the world and brought it to a standstill. I know we’ve all been through a lot and there are still challenges to come, but it does look like we really are finally moving in the right direction and we can slowly get our lives back. I hesitate to say our “normal” lives back as I suspect it will be rather more complicated than that, but every step forward is a welcome step forward.

Here at BLG we have worked uninterrupted throughout and it has gone very well from a business point of view. We were well prepared for home working for all staff, following the remote working tests we carried out ahead of the pandemic. I think we have had more of a case of staff having to adapt mentally and emotionally to the changes, rather than IT issues. Home working is efficient but you do miss the people at the office.

Our customers have faced additional challenges in their day to day lives, so I hope that we have been able to provide an element of stability and security which is much needed at a time like this.

I am looking forward to being back in the office again in whatever form that may take. The HR and H&S people will make that call! In the meantime, take care everyone and fingers crossed the world starts to fully emerge from this awful pandemic shortly. The signs are positive……….
